It is not easier for the government to discriminate against someone based on age or race because there are Federal laws that prohibit discrimination based on age and race. Age discrimination in employment act prohibits employment discrimination based on age against employees aged 40 years or above and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, gender or national origin. Government employees are covered by these laws and the government cannot easily take any decisions that are discriminatory. Otherwise, they should be able to show that the discriminatory decision was a business necessity or it was a bonafide occupational qualification for job performance.
