Use reliable sources on the internet to investigate one of the following two conflicts, often called genocides: Darfur or Rwanda. Provide a very brief (2-3 sentences) overview of the heart of the conflict (the aggressor, how long did/has it last(ed), etc.). Then describe one particular event from the conflict or one particular aspect of the conflict (e.g., the role of the military, the influence of tribal histories). Use what you have learned about social psychology and present two psychological reasons you think this kind of violence may have happened or been allowed to happen. In your application, be sure you: a) speak specifically about how the concept applies to the conflict; and, b) discuss how the two concepts may have worked together to create situational pressures leading to violence.

The planned mass killings and rapes of Darfuri people in the western Sudan are the Darfur genocides. The conflict between the northern Sudan including Arab originated Muslims and Southern Sudan consisting Christian and others emerged as a result of opposition to intiation of more a pro Muslim state. It began somewhere around 2003 and has not completely ended even today, treated as the first genocide in the twenty first century.

Sudan Liberation Army and Justice and Equality Movement were the rebel entities who fiercely opposed the Khartoum government. for the economic marginalisation and unfair treatment.

Janjaweed (the evil people on the back of the horses) were backed by government to burn, kill and destroy the civilians and their places/ villages which was followed by the air attacks by the government.

Psychological reasons- The desire to reign the land during drought of 1980 by African farmers as well as Arabic tribes lead to disturbance which appeared to be settled apparently but was not completely solved.

The 1990s inequality in the form of more inclination towards the Islamic population/ Arab tribes than African community. This increased the gaps on the basis of ethnicity and race.

A thirst to set the empire on the basis of single race and ethnicity by humiliating theother is the root psychlogical reason in this context.
