Ethics: The main elements of ethical principles and policy of Apple are – integrity, honesty, respect, confidentiality and compliance. The company maintains integrity and honesty in all its operations and commercial transactions and dealings. The company respects all its stakeholders be it the customers, employees, suppliers, contract manufacturers etc. The company keeps data of users confidential and respects their privacy and complies with all applicable rules and regulations.

Employees: Apple treats its employees with utmost respect and care. At the core of the company’s operations is the belief that its employees are its most valuable assets and the company’s focus on innovation and simplicity is based on the skills and capabilities of its employees. Each employee is empowered to make decisions and risk taking is encouraged. Hierarchy is not very rigid and the company has a flat structure. So employees are not too much depended on their managers to make a decision.

Environment: Apple has a unique corporate culture and employees are not required to adhere to a normal work environment. In other words Apple has a very informal work environment and employees are not required to have a 9 am to 5 pm schedule. What matters most at Apple is output and productivity and if employees are able to work within the deadlines then they can follow their own schedule. Work environment is not really stressful if employees are able to meet the deadlines. The work environment is largely collaborative in nature and so employees can rely on team members and other employees to help them in case of any problems.

The company does respect and appreciate the environment for creating its products and/or services. It is because of this respect and appreciation that employees are encouraged to take calculated risks, to think out of the box and to innovate.

Customers: The company treats its customers with utmost respect and care. Each product of Apple is designed while keeping in mind the needs and requirements of the customers. Apple not only factors in the explicit needs and requirements of the customers but also considers the latent needs and requirements of the customers. This enables Apple to create products that will meet the unmet needs of its customers in a systematic and tangible manner.

Yes, Apple definitely follows the ethics that it states. The company’s corporate culture is defined by its ethical principles and it is on the basis of its corporate culture that Apple has been able to reach the heights of success that it is at today.
