Why is observing children important? Please read this scenario and then provide the steps you would take to support this child. Two families are enjoying a hot summer day at the beach. One of the mothers expresses a concern that her three-year-old son, Tommy, does not seem as social as he should. Is this a cause for great concern? If a friend asked you this question, how would you respond? As a teacher, how would you respond?
It's very important to observe the children as they grow because they would learn things not with the instructions from the parents but through observation and the amount of care they receive. If the child is not socializing enough, the chances are more that the child didn’t have enough care and attention given by the parents or caretakers. Because children are the products of their environment and if there is no one to talk, pay attention and fulfill their needs. Secondly, the child as it goes, if it witnesses more arguments from the parents, it might also impact the socialization of the child. Thus, the parents should try to spend more time helping the child to open-up. It would also be helpful, if the child is put in a preschool where the child would have more children and teachers to interact and socialize.
