9. Name AND explain 2 issues with the Holmes Social Readjustment Rating Scale.
In order to determine 43 stressful events, Holmes and Rahe (1967) created the social revision rate (SRRS) questionnaire. The Social Readjustment Scale was a valuable stimulant for the study of changes in life and disease, but it does have important limitations.
i) Improper assessment of life changes: The existing scale cannot be used to assess the role of various types of changes in life (for example, positive or negative) in disease.
ii) Ambiguities between objects: Some issues discussed include ambiguities between objects, inconsistency between independent and dependent variables and a lack of details on the object. Suggestions are made to better measure the change in life and to research life and disease more effectively.
