For example, in the classroom, a symptom of a problem may be poor student grades. The problem may be poor explanations of course material, lack of student involvement, or assessments that don't accurately measure student knowledge.  Systems-based market research is good for discovering symptoms because problems manifest themselves as changes in financial performance, attendance/visitation, satisfaction, awareness, etc the types of things you systematically collect data on.  However, once symptoms appear, a project-based approach is needed to dig deeper and understand what the problem is)

State your line of work (or desired job), and give an example of a symptom and some potential underlying problems.

In any field problems and symptoms are common. For example if we take the job of a business development manager, they need to develop the existing business and also get new customers to the company. But there are some problems in the company such as lack of manpower, lack of proper execution of the orders brought by us, lack of unity among the staff, lack of cooperation from the management etc., All these problems give symptoms like inefficient production, dissatisfied customers and decline in business. These symptoms hinder the job we do and the business of the company also reduces due to dissatisfied customers.
