Diffraction and interference requires quantum study.

Quantum tells that light has wave nature whereas in classical mechanism it is considered to be of particle nature.

These two effect clearly shows the wave nature of light.,

In diffraction, light is passed through a small slit, and a wave pattern is observed on screen.

In interference two slits work together and where constructive interference give maxima and destructive interference give minima of the wave pattern.
