What are the three membranes in the amniotic egg? What are the functions of these membranes? What
are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of egg?
Answer: Firstly i like to recorrect the question as in case of amniotic egg there are basically four membrane instead of three.
The four membranes with their functions are:
1: Amnion membrane --- it is the inner most membrane which contain fluid which help to stabilize the temperature and also maintain the proper consistancy of chemicla substances required for embryo development.
2.Yolk sac----- It is th second mebrane which is helpful to provide nutrition for developing embryo as this membrane contain lots of protein and fat.
3.Annantois---- It is the third membrane which is basically responsible for the storage of metabolic waste material. In later stage it also act as respiratory surface (responsible for gaseous exchange for O2 and Co2)
4.Chorion---- It is fourth membrane which is the outer most membrane so it protect from external sock and also protect from environmental stress. As it contain the fluid called as chorionic fluid which help to absorb sock and force experienced from outside environment.and also help in gaseous exchange.
Advantage of amniotic egg: This is generally present in reptiles and birds and mammals. In case of birds and reptiles after the egg laying there is no connection of egg with the maternal tissue so as amniotic egg contain all the required things for their development hence it can grow safely without the maternal tissue connection also in case of birds and reptiles. So amniotic egg is advantageous because of presence of all required material it allows the more quick development of embryo. It is also free from competition for food required for development. But the basic disadvantages of this is that as it is very delicate so it must require solid or stationary surface to laid on and also there is risk of attack of predators(means it need extra protection)
What are the three membranes in the amniotic egg? What are the functions of these membranes?...
explain how the amniotic egg enabled animals to venture further on terrestrial habitats and away from water, also comment on the advantages involved that enabled for a faster growing enbryo within the amniotic egg. (Zoology)
What are three specific functions of the cell membrane? Cell membranes are a mosaic of lipid and protein molecules. Assign the functions you listed to either protein or lipid.
What are the three major components of plasma membranes and their functions? How is osmosis a type of diffusion? In what ways is the plasma membrane selectively permeable? What happens to plant and animal cells placed in hypotonic, Isotonic, and hypertonic solutions? How are passive and active transport different? How do membrane transport proteins function? What molecule is the "energy currency of cells? What does this mean? How do enzymes speed up chemical reactions? What factors influence the activity of...

b) Although amphibians have permeable skin and lack an amniotic egg, there are species which inhabit very dry places. How do they survive and prevent dehydration? Give 3 examples of species which do not use ponds/pools for reproduction and describe how they keep the eggs, larvae moist.
