The idea that my husband and I have for the bistro we hope to open in the near future is the idea of giving antique type keys to the first thirty customers and saving twenty keys to give to loyal customers. The “key-holders”, as they will be called, will award the presenter with a special surprise on each visit to the bistro. Depending on the day, what is on special, the key holder could get a free appetizer, or a free dessert. They could get a discount on a bottle of wine. The reward will be different each time.The key-holder concept is an incremental innovation, it’s hard to accomplish radical innovation in the restaurant business, but our concept takes everything we love about dining out and restaurants and makes it easier to love. The three key aspects of our concept are: new ways of serving existing markets, rethinking services and improving operations.The idea of opening a bistro is not new or innovative, and a reward program certainly is new either, but we feel the idea offers a new and fun way of serving an existing market. We plan to train our stall in the highest quality methods of customer service and to equip the staff with state of the art technology to increase production and quality of food and service. I have worked as both a waitress and a bartender and I am very aware the demands places on the individuals in those positions with little to no rewards. Our goal is to research the employment laws to see if wait staff can be paid more than the current rate of $2.34 an hour and make it possible for them to make a living while working in a fun and progressive environment.
