Meaning of:

* Action research: it is a research applied to provide solution to a specific and defined problem.

* Fundamental research: it is used for developing theories with the application of scientific methods and principles.

The difference between these two research is that, the fundamental research is applied for development and testing of theories, with systematic methodology. It helps in discovering Various aspects and evaluating them with scientific and hypothetical methods.

Whereas, action research uses immediate action to solve a problem as soon as it is identified by the researchers. It doesn't involve any systematic approach to develop the theory, test the decisions, and then use it. It straight away try to resolve the issues or problems and make the research gets completed.
