Answer #1

1> Pivot table -

It is used to resume, sort, reorganize, group, count, total or average data stored in a database. It allows its clients to convert columns into rows and rows into columns. It allows grouping of any field of data.

2> Its purpose -

In order to find unique values in an industry, pivot tables summarize data. This is a good way of seeing all the values quickly appearing in industry and discovering types as well as other inconsistencies. For example, suppose I have sales information, and I want to see a list of every item sold.

3> An example of a situation when a pivot table would be helpful to understand data.

Analyze the performance of a big asset portfolio over different time ranges - Since Power Pivot for Excel helps us to define measures that compare a time-period with a prior one, we can rapidly achieve quarter-over-quarter, year-over-year, and month-over-month output all on a rolling basis by writing just a few measures.
