• Placebo effect is not just confined to medicines or drugs.There are many examples of placebos in our everyday lives as well.In simple terms,placebo effect means an effect which is created by a placebo treatment,that cannot be attributed to the properties of the placebo but actually results from a person's belief in that treatment.
• For instance,it could as simple as putting a blanket over your head,which we all do.We know it wouldnt defend us from any monsters or ghosts,but we do feel safe when its over our head.All of us have experienced this in our childhood and still do. When in need of protection from monsters, those blankets become our safety capes.
• Another instance from my personal experience is,as a mother when your child gets hurt, you become frantic about it.Seeing my child cry,because of the bruise,I kiss the bruise and ask her is she is fine.She smiles at me and stops crying.Now my kiss is the placebo,its not really healing the bruise,but it makes my child feel better and stop crying,this is the placebo effect.
