What are your preconceived notions about behavior modification? What positive or negative things have you heard about it? Has the topic been discussed in other courses or fields of study that you may be pursuing?
Behavior modification is a very useful concept with respect to improving one's personality and helps one in achieving several goals. I always felt that behavior modification is a challenging yet difficult one, but a broad and flexible mind will easily help undergo this process if the mission is self-purification and maturation. There are positive and negative things which are heard about the same. The positive aspect is the one which I mentioned above. The negative aspect is the criticism behind the same on whether to change a behavior or not. Many people firmly believe that behavior is one that makes them unique and marks their personality at its best. They prefer not to undergo this process as they feel that doing so would completely destroy their real character and convert themselves to someone whom they are unknown and are uncomfortable.
This topic is one that is widely used in human psychology. Apart from this, it is also a part of many courses that are professional such as medicine, engineering, law, and business studies when dealing with the code of professional ethics and consequence of misconduct.
