There are many studies which shows that purchase & ownership of foreign brands in both consumable and durable goods vary greatly across geographic markets and product categories. If we go through this we may come across many such examples:

  • Geographic markets :
  1. There are many asian countries which exports onions to countries like UAE, Dubai and many gulf countries, though these products are available in their but still due to quality growth of the products there is huge demand of such products.
  2. Consumer products like Long grain rice are not available at all geography but they have their own rice available, still when it comes to long grain rice foreign products appear to be more desirable to consumers.
  • Product categories :
  1. Suzlon manufactures Wind mills which do not have plants in every country but due to there product quality there products are more desirable than domestic market.
  2. Electric car: Electric cars are not manufacture in many Asian countries where as they have local domestic products which runs on petrol or diesel. Hence the technologies also matters where foreign products appears to be more desirable.
