Linkage = Transfer of two loci together which are located closely to each other into gametes
Genes that are closely placed on the chromosome move as a single unit during gametogenesis.

The only way two linked genes can be separated is by crossing over/recombination.
Crossing over/recombination is the exchange of genetic material between two non-sister chromatids of the homologous pair of chromosomes.

Two linked genes can also be separated by translocation.
Translocation refers to the translocation of a genetic segment to another non-homologous region.
It can also occur by transposition.

It is given that Abad and Bbadder genes both are linked i.e. located closely on the same chromosome.
So, they will be inherited together into a single gamete most of the times.

The only way both of them can be separated is by crossing over i.e. recombination breakpoint should be in between them so that one gene goes into one chromosome and the other into the other chromosome.


Transposition also can separate both these genes. However, it moves genes to a non-homologous region as compared to the crossing over.
