Assume you are the network Administrator for ACME Corporation. A network segment assigned to you has an IP address 198.60.123.0/24. You need to subnet this address to serve 16 customers with 10 to 14 hosts each. What is the subnet mask that will satisfy this requirement? Provide a table that has the appropriate Subnet Mask, Subnetworks, and Range of Host Addresses (see attached)

Answer #1

given IP address 198.60.123.0/24

we need 16 sub nets with 10 to 14 hosts each.we need extra two addresses

one for network address , another for broadcast address.

finally , at most we need 16 address .

so we need 16 sub nets of 16 addresses per each sub net.

for identifying 16 sub nets we need 4 bits form last octet.

depending on number of ones from sub net bits of last octet , we write sub net mask.

note:- we take higher order bits of last octet for sub netting.
