Cosmic evolution include the history of natural evolution from Big Bang to the present from the perspective of the emerging multi-sceintific discipline of Big history. Comic evolution explains why simple structures billions of years ago gave way to more complex structures, such as stars, planets, life and human beings in complex civilizations.

Darwin theory states that all species of organisms arise and develop through the natural selection of small, inherited variations that increase the individuals ability to compete, survive and reproduce

When Darwin published On the Origin of Species including concepts of predated Darwin theories It subsequently referred to the specific concepts of natural selection. Tough the term usually refers biological evolution creationists have appropriated it to refer to the origin of life and it has been applied to concepts of Cosmic evolution, both of which have no cannection to Darwins work.
