Answer #1

DNA barcoding involves the use of a single gene that compares nucleotide sequences in the DNA to that in other species to identify a given species. The use of DNA barcodes, which are short gene sequences and used to identify species also has a application in genetic markers to address questions relating to the ecology and evolution of natural systems. These markers can be applied to address basic questions in ecology, evolutionary biology and conservation and assessing priority areas for environmental protection. The ecological information obtained from environmental system can be coupled with the understanding of evolutionary histories using these DNA barcodes , can assist in answering complex questions relevant to species assembly in ecology.

please help answering You start with a cell that is grown in normal media. Subsequently DNA is allowed to replicate in an environment with all necessary enzymes, dATP, dCTP, dGTP, and radioactively labeled dTTP (3H thymidine) for 1 cell cycle, (resulting in 2 cells) and then switched back to normal, nonradioactive medium. Cell are allowed to replicate once more, so you end up with 4 cells. How many of these 4 cells with have radioactive dTTP incorporated in their DNA?...

DNA STRUCTURE Imagine two species, X & Y. Each species is haploid and has a single chromosome of 10,000 base pairs (bp or 10 kbp). You are analyzing their DNA, and you find that 2 kbp of species X are adenine and 4 kbp of species Y are guanine. Use this information to answer the following questions: 9. For species X, how many kbp of DNA there are for each of the four nitrogenous bases: adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine...
