There is no standard definition of what a community policing model should look like. Why does implementation vary wildly across agencies? Does this compound the problems relating to evaluation of the community policing model?

The community policing is a different type of policing system in which apart from the government employees, the member of the local community are also made to get involved in the policing activities. This will help in lowering the burden on the security service as the common people also participates in managing these activities. It can have participation from the people of different walks of life.

It has three main elements which are the development of community partnerships, involvement in problem-solving, and execution of community policing organizational traits.

The model of community policing becomes quite different as there are a number of law enforcement agencies in the country and they all have their own pattern of getting the public or community members involved in this exercise. In fact, in this kind of modeling, there are no set guidelines of who can participate and who can be debarred from the participation. This kind of policing mainly depends on the build-up of the local community and the requirement of the specific law enforcing agency

As there will be numerous community policing and each model may have varied elements and the requirement thus there will not be any common parameters on which these units can be compared. Thus it will definitely increase the issue of effective evaluation of the community policing model.
