Answer #1

The correct answer is a.

Fredrick Taylor's scientific management focused on the belief that simplifying and optimizing jobs would result in increase in productivity and it is important for managers and employees to work collaboratively. He believed that workers were motivated by money and came with the idea that employee who is more productive for the particular day will get paid more as compared to the worker who is less productive.

The principles of scientific management are: -

  • There is one best way to do any task.
  • It is important to select, train, teach and develop each workers scientifically.
  • In order to ensure that the task is done through one best way, management should cooperate with workers and provide them incentives.
  • Work should be divided and the responsibility should be assigned equally between the management and workers.

The assumptions of scientific management are: -

  • There is mutual interest that exist between employees and employers in order to get economic gain. So employee focus on getting high wages and employer focus on lower the cost. So this can be achieved by mutual cooperation.
  • Human are rational in nature and are motivated by economic means. So, if completing a particular task will result in economic gain, so individuals would follow any work method system to complete the task which can fulfill their economic needs.
