What are key areas to focus on when reviewing applications and resumes? What are some potential red flags that you have observed in reviewing resumes and applications?
Reviewing resumes and applications are quite an integral and critical activity because organizations today cannot afford to make mistakes while recruiting someone for a role. As reviewer I believe that the most important and effective areas to focus on would be the total experience of the applicant, relevant experience, skill set, major achievements, current salary and the expected compensation as well. Another important aspect would be reference check and background verification to ensure if the data furnished are authentic and true. The evaluating parameters would vary based on the designation and management level for which we are hiring.
The potential red flags in resume would be spelling mistakes, grammatical error, format of the resume, length of the resume, etc. These aspects create a negative image of the applicant in my mind and an applicant should be quite serious regarding the same.
