Let us start with the last part what is meant by defense based law?
This is a law where the defendant is protected from criminal responsibility when the defendant commits a crime to avoid a greater, imminent harm. This law can also be said as protection under self defesce. This law is applicable only when the crime is of atmost danger .For example if some one comes to kill you and in self defense you harm that person then this law protects you. Another example is of Sexual Assault .If the defendant act to save herself from any kind of assault this law gives her protection under defense based choice. The harm or evil sought to be avoided by such conduct is greater than that sought to be prevented by the law defining the offense charged.
If a gang burglars enters your house force fully and have weapons and you thing they can harm your family or even kill them you can act accordingly to save them .When the defense is perfect, it results in an acquittal. When the defense is imperfect, it results in a reduction in sentence or the defendant’s conviction of a lesser offense.
Another example could be people carry guns with them with due permission this come under the same law.
