Divergence and convergence occur mainly in upper an levels and this brings in or removes out mass from vertical column.
When divergence aloft happens, mass will be removed from the column and .uses low surface pressure Thus, outflow of air column on surface to upper level of troposphere and air rises.
When convergence alone occurs, mass will be added to the column and causes high surface pressure This will create a sinking effect since stratosphere Is offering restriction for rising air column.

If there is any convergence of horizontal winds occur in low pressure region, air masses uses and subsequetly adiabatic baling effect will be occurred Due to adiabatic cooling precipitation will occur. Thus, low pressure is accompanying with stormy weather
In high pressure system, there is sinking of warm air and it restricts the precipitation and hence connected with fair weather
