The text states this is true " because the sum of the coefficients on either side of the balanced equation is identical.."

Answer #1

Relation between Kp and Kc is

Kp = Kc. RTn

n = number of moles of gaseous products - number of moles of gaseous reactant.

for the given example

Fe3O4 (s) + 4H2(g)   3Fe (s) + 4H2O(g)

In the above equation sum of the coefficient on either side is not equal

But, n = number of moles of gaseous product- number of moles of gaseous reactant = 4-4= 0

Therefore, Kc = Kp

    DQuestion 1 2 pts Select the statements below that are TRUE. Kc and Kp are the same thing as the k (rate constant) that you learned about before. Kc has units of molarity and Kp has units of pressure D Kp uses the same equation as Kc, but with pressure instead of concentration Kc is equal to Kp when the number of moles of gas (n) doesn't change. Solids and liquid are not included in the Kc and Kp equations...
