An elastic ball os mass M is dropped from the height h above the floor. At the instant the ball is at the height h/2, it is struck by a bullet of mass 0.2M, flying horizontally at the speed v. The bullet gets stuck inside the falling ball. The ball then bounces off the floor several times. What is the horizontal distance x traveled by the ball between the first and second bounce? The acceleration due to gravity is g. The air resistance is negligible. Explain with words the steps needed to solve this problem (as well as the mathematical aspect of course).
