a) Use Excel to construct a scatterplot of midoffspring running speeds versus midparent running speeds (2 pts). Plot a regression line to show the correlation of the midoffspring values with midparent values (1 pt). Include the equation of the regression line on the scatterplot (1 pt). See lecture slides for examples of the scatterplot.

b) From the scatterplot in Q1(a), estimate the heritability (h2) of running speed. Round numbers to 2 decimal places. (1 pt)

c) Five pairs of parents with the highest midparent running speeds were used as breeders. Calculate the selection differential (S). You may use the formula function in Excel to calculate the mean, in that case you don’t have to show the work. Round numbers to 2 decimal places. (3 pts)

d) Predict the response to selection (R) (1 pt). What is the predicted average running speed of the Alaskan huskies in the next generation (1 pt)? Show your work and round numbers to 2 decimal places.

I understand how to plot the graph but I am not sure of how to use the graph to do the calculations for B to D, hence why they are in bold.
