If a plant grown from a blue wrinkled seed (from forat cross; remember there were 169 of them) is crossed to a plant grown from a yellow smooth seed (also from the first cross). What kinds of kernels would be expected (given you know their map distances - 10.7 cM) and in what proportions?
A_ - blue
aa - yellow
W_ - smooth
ww - wrinkled

Answer #1

The map distance between the alleles a and w is 10.7 cM. So, both the alleles are very closely linked. Therefore, all the types of offsprings are produced in equal proportions.

Aw/aW blue smooth is 1/4

aW/aw yellow smooth is 1/4

Aw/aw blue wrinkled is 1/4 and

aw/aw yellow wrinkled is 1/4
