Gram positive bacteria causing human diseases are as follows :

1. Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which causes Tuberculosis. Symptoms include damage to lungs and chronic cough which might cause pain.

2. Mycobacterium leprae which causes Hanson's Disease or Leprosy. Symptoms include skin lesions and nerve damage. The peripheral nerves are impacted the most and there is loss of pain sensation as well.

3. Corynebacterium diphtheriae which causes Diphtheria, an infection of the nose and throat. Symptoms include sore throat, fever, swollen lymph nodes and weakness.

4. Clostridium tetani which causes Tetanus also known as Lockjaw. Symptoms include painful muscle spasms which may lead to death.

Gram negative bacteria causing human diseases are as follows :

1. Treponema pallidum which causes Syphilis, a sexually transmitted disease which leads to formation of sores, rashes and in the later stage damage to the vital organs.

2. Borditella pertussis which causes Pertussis or Whooping Cough. Symptoms include a cough that sounds like "whoop", a runny nose, nasal congestion and sneezing.

3. Helicobacter pylori which causes gastric ulcers, which causes damage to the gut lining especially in the stomach.
