In this case, in what public health situations do you feel it would be better to have a strong leader as opposed to a strong manager, and vise Versa?
A good management and strong leadership both are equally required for a good public health situation. Both have some similar qualities, and both differ also in some respect. A good manager should always strive to become a good leader. Therefore, training must be personalized based on the individual leadership traits and accordingly the training module need to be structured and designed.
A good leader has vision and capability to negotiate for resource which are required to build a better public health system. While a good managerial skill is required for optimum utilization of resources and give the best health care service. Leaders are able to communicate the vision to various stakeholders and helps in realizing the vision of a better public health system.
There are situations where a good leader should have good management skills also in order to access the requirement and feasibility of the system. Therefore, both skills are important and good training program must be designed with the input to improve both the skills.
