A) Problems resulting from the Poor Project Management :-

Poor project planning can cause different and serious problems in many different areas later in your project. Some of these are

1. Scope control of project :-

              This is one of the major aspects of defining a project is defining the high level scope. If you don't gain and define an agreement on scope,it is very difficult to manage scope effectively throughout the completion of your project.

2. Lack of business support :-

It is very common to have differences in expectations among the major stakeholders,if you do not define the major characteristics of your project up front. This will become true even if you take all of your initial direction from the sponsor .As a project gets larger , even the sponsor may not have a complete picture of heat needs to happen for the project to be successful. In other times, the sponsor have a vision , but there are other visions that may be better or more visible. These ideas end up surfacing later in the project which causes confusion in the work and have to again work for the same .

3. Poor Budget Estimation :-

At beginning of the project, it needs to have a budget and also have a deadline before the business requirements are completed. In many cases, if the definition and planning are not done so well, that result will enforces on the project in terms of teams starts off with inadequate resources and time. In that time also you don't realize it until the project is already in progress. From the previous one's , many projects are viewed as failures because they overshot their budget and deadlines.This situation is often caused by the project manager committing to low figures in budget.

B) Methods used for selecting and evaluating information systems projects :-

    1) The corporate strategic planning group assists a firm in developing a strategic plan and it will be responsible for modification or development of information systems in it.

2) Information Systems steering committee are the senior level of management which is responsible for system operations and development.

3) Project managers are the individuals which are in charge of running the projects selected at a firm. They have to complete in given span of time and budget.

4) Project team contains the members which are the face of the project. These project team includes the information system managers and end-user managers which oversees the specific parts of the project in which they are taken.
