Describe the view of contemporary psychologists in regards to the different approaches in psychology? This has to do with the Developmental/Dynamic Systems approach, what is it?

Answer- Developmental Systems Approach or Developmental Systems Theory (DST), is a theoretical perspective on biological development, evolution, and heredity. The approach throws emphasis on the shared contributions of the environment, genes, and other epigenetic factors involved in developmental processes. Contrary to other scientific theories, Developmental Systems Theory is not used directly to make predictions in the context of testing experimental results. DST is considered as a collection of psychological, scientific, and philosophical models of development and evolution. DST explains a plethora of positions that expand the prospects of biological explanations of organismal development. There are typically six themes of DST, they are as follows-

1) Joint Determination by Multiple Causes- This refers to the fact that development is a product of multiple interacting sources.

2) Context Sensitivity and Contingency- The current state of the organism determines the development.

3) Extended Heritage- In addition to genes, an organism inherits resources from the environment.

4) Development as a process of construction- An organism helps shape its own environment.

5) Distributed Control-No source of single influence has control over an organism's development.

6) Evolution As Construction- This includes the evolution of an entire developmental system.
