Answer- The stream becomes graded under the mechanism of dispersive pressure and kinetic seaving or due to normal settling. The settling of sediments during river flow due to normal settling leads to the normal grading where the finning of the sediments takes place upward. Where as the kinetic seaving and the dispersive pressure leads the reverse grading where the coarsening of the sequence takes place.
Answer- The formation the stream terraces takes place due to the lateral erosion by the river. When the unequal lateral erosion takes place it leads to the formation of the assymmetric terraces and the equal erosion leads to the formation of the symmetric terraces.
Answer- The processes by which the sediments are moved by the stream are saltation(series of jumps), rolling and traction and suspension. The flow velocity must be high enough to agitate and carry the load of the sediments which mainly depends upon the capacity and the competency of the river.
Explain how streams become graded Describe the formation of stream terraces Describe the processes by which...
Describe three processes that are important for decomposition of leaves in a stream. Explain which organisms are important for each of the processes.
Explain the three processes that are necessary for Urine formation, in which part of the nephron are these functions performed?
Explain how natural stream levees form Describe the types of environments where one would expect to find straight-channel, braided, and meandering streams Explain some of the steps that we can take to limit the damage from flooding
Describe the process of how water becomes streamflow. Draw a schematic of a hillslope and show different mechanisms by which water is moved to a stream. Include a discussion of the response of the system to precipitation events. What implications do these processes have on the age and residence time of streamwaters in the hydrologic system?
1. Describe the processes of retrogradation, syneresis, and dextrinization. Explain what causes each of these to occur. 2. Is a hollandaise sauce considered thickened or unthickened? a. What are the main ingredients? b. Describe the method for preparing the sauce c. Are there any safety issues to be aware of? 3. In this chapter, we learned about making a slurry to thicken sauces. a. Why would it be necessary to make a slurry? b. Why does flour in cold water...
The volume of water that a stream moves in a given amount of time is known as the stream's discharge In general, stream discharge will be velocity. 1 square 1 square meter Stream B Stream A Velocity: 30 meters/second Velocity: 10 meters/second Consider the above figure depicting a side view of the cross-section of two streams Each square represents one square meter (1 m) Think about which one would have greater discharge. (Develop a hypothesis.) Now let's test your hypothesis....
1. Describe the processes by which fatty acids are transported in the blood, activated and transported into the matrix of the mitochondria for breakdown to obtain energy. (Specifically, determine the role of carnitine palmitoyl transferase in the oxidation of fatty acids.) 2. Explain the processes by which fatty acids are released from triacylglycerol stored in adipose tissue. 3. Outline the β-oxidation pathway by which fatty acids are metabolized to acetyl-CoA and explain how this leads to the production of large...

QUESTION 1 Cougar Run flows from the west to the east (see figure below showing the location of the river, your factory, a factory built in 2004, local farms (A-F), and water wells). Based on the shape of the stream channel, consider where one would expect significant erosion or deposition to occur. Based on your evaluation of the the figure below, which landowners (A-F) could experience the worst erosion damages to their property? Owell well Cougar...
Question 1 (30 points You are required to state and describe which manufacturing processes to use for the manufacture of the shown part. This may include more than one manufacturing process (primary step and then one or more secondary steps). Study the shape carefully and consider all acceptable options to achieve the final shape given. The part is made of a brass alloy and its largest diameter is 30 cm, with a weight of 17 kg. Suu A.
