Time is one aspect of life that acts as the most necessary resource, and therefore, its management becomes critical to our functions. Ordinarily, managing time takes simple steps of planning, managing, organizing, and executing. Control is present in some amounts, but usually, depending on the severity of the task we have undertaken, we typically spend a lot more time on things than we initially planned. It can be a cause of any number of problems, but in my case, it is due to perfectionism and how I relate to my understanding of my potential. Recently, after reading a book titled, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," I have started utilizing the four-quadrant systems to divide my goals and workload and, therefore, allocate time-based on the importance of the quadrant. The quadrants are based on importance and time-bound goals, and thereby, I allocate more time to the needed more needed now quadrant and less to needed less and needed later quadrant. This helps with time management to a high degree, but it has more than just this general application.
I also utilize the Pomodoro productivity method. It takes a rule of 45 minutes of work with a 1t minutes break. While mostly used for a productivity perspective, it hells when we can stop a task and resume it after some recollection or with a fresh perspective.
Now, to the traditional aspect of planning, I make use of a modified to-do list, based on the four quadrants system, remove workplace distractions, break down tasks into smaller clusters and accept my limitations, thus, planning based on my capacity for a clearer perspective of time utilization.
I feel like time is an aspect that we can never indeed manage effectively. More often, we find ourselves with a lack of it, increasing workload, decreased outlook, with barely enough time for personal life, and therefore, I feel like this is where I lack the most. I cannot find a balance between work and personal experience that would enable a psychological balance, which in turn improves motivation and productivity to perform more, perform better, and generate more time and better and efficient management.
