In the law there is a general proposition that criminal culpability requires knowledge that what one has done was wrong. So, for instance if you took something that in fact belongs to someone else but had every reason to believe was your property, then you would not be held criminally liable. Accordingly, could Adam be properly blamed for disobeying God and eating from the tree of knowledge, before he had knowledge of right and wrong, including the wrongness of disobeying God? Did Adam have freewill before he ate from the tree?

A crime is a crime no matter how big it is or how small it is. If we take something that belongs to someone else without taking his consent, we will be charged as theifs in the eyes of the law. This si so because we took it form someone and he did not give us permission to take it.Similarly God had warned Adam to not eat the fruit as he knew Adam does not have the knowledge to judge between right or wrong. So he chose to guide him. But it was Adam's sheer lust for desires and greed that attracted him to take teh fruit which had serious consequences for the world to follow. That is the reason they say, as you sow, so shall you reap.
