Matt Jarvis is one of the most influential sports psychologist and his concept of trait theory and his need to evaluate scale has been the topic of discussion in various communities dealing with modern day psychology.

Coming to the topic of interest, the need to evaluate scale basically measures or assesses an individual's opinion making ability or the extent to which an individual goes to make evaluation or opinions about some events or people. The need to evaluate scale gets a high score when an individual is very interested in evaluating things and objects while it gets a low score if the subject escapes from situations where an opinion is needed to be made.

Personality is a very important determinant of the scores of need to evaluate scale or the factor of need to evaluate. According to Jarvis, there are basically two types of personality- Type A and Type B. Type A is very competitive, focussed, rushed and aggressive while Type B is very relaxed, laid back, lazy and easy going. Thus, taking these traits of these two types of personality, it can be assumed that an individual with Type A personality will score higher than Type B personality in need to evaluate scale because of his competitive and rushed nature. Individual with Type B will score less because of his laid back nature.

Thus, it can concluded that personality contributes to a great extent to high scoring on Jarvis's need to evaluate measurement.
