The process of DNA replication required a set of catalyses (enzyme) the main enzyme is referred to a DNA dependent DNA polymerase

The formation of enzyme complex due to in addition to the DNA dependent DNA polymerase and,many additional enzymes are required for a long DNA molecules since two strands of DNA cannot be separated through out entire length in one stretch, the replication occur within a small opening of DNA helix refered to as replication fork

The DNA dependent DNA polymerase catalyses polymerisation only one direction.5'to3'.this creates some additional complications at the replication fork consequently ,on one strand (the polarity 3'to5') the replication is continuous,while on other templates (polarity 5'to3') it is discontinue . the discontinusly synthesized fragments are known as okazaki fragments are later joined by enzyme DNA ligase.

Functions

DNA dependent DNA polymerasr is used as DNA templates to catalyses the polymerisation of deoxynucleicotides.

These enzyme are highly efficient enzyme as they have to catalyses the polymerisation of a large numbers of nucleotides in a very short time .

not only do these polymerases have to fast , but also have to catalyses the reaction with high degree of accuracy . Any mistake during replication would result mutation .
