In Vertebrates, the nervous system consists of Brain and Spinalcord. It is divided into CNS that is, Central Nervous System and PNS that is, Peripheral Nervous System.
But in Arthropods, the nervous system consists of a Dorsal Brain and a ventral, Ganglionated longitudinal nerve cord.
In Vertebrates, one Neuron controls many muscle cells. For example, one signal is enough to perform a muscle movement. Because one neuron supplies impulses to a number of muscle cells, together forming a functional motor unit.
But in Arthropods, one muscle cell is controlled by many neurons. So the contraction of the Arthropod muscle is achieved by getting impulses from several different types of neurons to the one muscle cell.
