Research the cultural factors and protocols that a potential business partner would need to know to establish credibility when proposing a business idea in your chosen country.

Research and report on the following:

Communication Style: Would you describe the communication style of your country as implicit or explicit? How would this affect business relationships within it? Provide examples.
Credibility: What measures would you take to establish credibility when presenting a business proposal to business people or government officials from this country?
Culture: Compare the culture of Canada with the culture of your country using significant cultural determinants, such as geography, history, religion, language, style of dress and other factors. Include images to illustrate the culture.
Protocols: List three “Dos” and three “Taboos” in your country. Indicate why a businessperson should or should not conduct those actions or behaviours.
Business English: How prevalent is English in your country as the language of business?
Canadian Sources: What percentage of the Canadian population may have cultural ties with your IBP country? Research the immigration statistics and associations representing the culture in Canada, and give contact information.

Differences between Canada and  India in terms of business and cultural environment.

India

India is the largest nation in South Asia. The word "Indian" comes from Sindhu, a native name for the Indus River. Indians also call their country "Bharat". Around 60 percent of India's labor force works in the agriculture sector. Despite this, India is highly industrialized. Its industries range from nuclear power production to apparel making. With liberalization initiated in 2001 of the economy of the country has seen growing faster and expanding trade, although many say these changes have not helped most of India's people in rural areas.

Canada

Canada is the world's second-largest nation, exceeded in the area only by Russia. It is also one of the least closely populated. Most of its people are concentrated in a belt of 180 miles (290 KM) wide along its border with the United States. As people in the United States, Canadians are working harder for the same pay, as careers become more competitive and less protected. About 70 percent of Canadians work in the service sector, 25 percent work in the manufacturing industry, and about 3 percent work in the farming sector.

Now we are going to check some major differences between India and Canada.

Communication Style in India and Canada

LANGUAGE

Canada's official languages are both English and French. Canada is generally considered a bilingual nation. Yet, only 16 percent of the people are actually bilingual. About 60 percent of people can only speak English. 24 % of the people speak French.

Canadian communication style is the so-called impersonal communication style. This means that people use the straight style of verbal communication. Communicators meet only to complete objectives, and often the members at a meeting don’t know each other very well.

India has 1,653 language dialects. There are around twenty-four languages that are spoken by more than a million people. Indian languages belong to four major linguistic families. Indian government distinguishes fourteen spoken languages as an official language of the country: Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada, Oriya, Punjabi, Assamese, Kashmiri, and Sindhi. Sanskrit, the classical language of northern India, is also an official language. English is widely used for national, political, and business purposes.

For Indians, the paramount consideration in communication is to think before speaking and to respect the seniors in society because they are the ones who carry the wisdom and experience.

Credibility

How to register a new business in India in a legal way?

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs introduced online registration. In May 2015, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs started a five-in-one form to make the process of registration easier. It will require you to fill only one form instead of the tedious process of filling out many forms. A benefit of the new form is that it reduces contact with the authorities at various levels.

There are four steps to do this.

Apply for Director Identification Number(DIN)

The first step is to the registration of the company directors in the Legalrasta website. An amount of Rs 500 for DIN will be charged and normally it takes a day to get this number.

Acquire Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

This is important to ensure the authenticity of the documents that you file electronically. You have to pay a nominal amount of Rs 1299/-. It will get at least four days to get the certificate.

Approval of the company name and certificate of Incorporation

The business name will be approved by the Registrar of Company (ROC). Once the name is approved by ROC apply for the Certificate of Incorporation. This is done by filling out Form 1, Form 18 and Form 32. You have to pay Rs 1000/- for the approval of the name and the Certificate of Incorporation, the amount can be anywhere between Rs 1000 to 4000. The name approval will take at least two days while the certificate of incorporation will take a week.

Apply for Permanent Account Number and Tax Account Number for the registered company

The PAN card can be obtained from the Income Tax Department, by paying a nominal amount of INR 94. You can apply for the TAN card by visiting the website TIN. You will be charged INR 62. The total time span to obtain these is seven days.

Henceforth, the entire process of registering a company in India takes about 10–15 days with the cost of around INR 13,499/-

Over the next two centuries, Portugal, Holland, Britain, and France set up trading posts and factories. By the middle of the eighteenth century, Britain ultimately ruled the entire region. In 1947 India got its freedom.

India has an area of about 3.2 million square kilometers (1.2 million square miles) and a population of 940 million. India stretches from Cape Comorin, 8° north of the equator, to its border with the disputed Kashmir region under Pakistani control. Pakistan lies to the west, and to the east, India shares borders with Bangladesh, China, and Myanmar. India has three geographic zones. In the north lie the majestic Himalayas. Below the mountains lie the Indo-Gangetic plains. The Deccan Plateau forms the third geographical region.

Canada is so diverse historically and ethnically, there is no single national culture; the neighboring United States is translated in Canada as something of a flap, with distinctive flavors from the hundreds of impacts that make up the larger Canadian culture. Although French and English share official-language status, the particular culture of an area is generally a reflection of the dominant language backgrounds.

Canada is a huge country with great geographical variety. Covering about two-fifths of the North American continent, it has an area of 3,849,650 square miles (9,970,594 square kilometers). The Canadian Armor, a rocky area of forests, lakes, and wilderness, covers roughly half of Canada, separating the eastern and western parts of the country.

The history of Canada covers the period from the entrance of Paleo-Indians thousands of years ago to the present day Starting in the late 15th century, French and British expeditions explored, colonized, and fought over various places within North America in what constitutes present-day Canada. Although responsible government had existed in Canada since 1848, Britain continued to set its foreign and defense policies until the end of the First World War. Over centuries, elements of Indigenous, French, British and more recent immigrant customs have combined to form a Canadian culture that has also been strongly influenced by its linguistic, geographic and economic neighbor, the United States. Since the conclusion of the Second World War, Canadians have supported multilateralism abroad and socioeconomic development domestically.

We already discussed that most of the employees in India in the service sector can speak communicative English yet normal people can't talk English. There are many languages in India so it is difficult to start a new company in terms of the language barrier. In Canada, it is a comparatively easy task because of the bilingual system.
