How and why did nationalist movements in Africa resemble or differ from the nationalist movements in India?

The nationalist movements in Africa and India resembled one another because they both came out of frustration of being deceived by Imperialists. They were promised freedom for their support in fighting the war, but as always, they were deceived of their promises of freedom. In India, the mass movement was initiated by leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and many other inspirational leaders each in their own localities. In Africa, the nationalism movement was awakened by Pan African Congresses. The differences lay in how people were treated in their respective countries. The African nationalist movement was largely based on freedom not only from imperialism but also from racial oppression. The nationalist movement in India was largely for freedom and right to their own resources which were being exploited by the imperialists.
