Social media is easily accesible and avaliable to people for expressing their views and giving their input on any issue in any field. This has helped public and private sectors in many ways including some pitfalls too. Public sector can be open to new formats and systems with the help of social media and advanced technologies.  Social media provides people to actively participate in the public affairs managed by the public sector. The state activities performed are transparent and can recieve feedback on the same. A collabroation between the public and government can be seen in the public services provided to them.

Public engagement in state matters can be done eaisly with lesser cost which was a costly affair with the traditional methods used before. Communication with government bodies has become easy even in period of crises. Immediate action can be taken by concerned bodies with support of this comminucation channel. It has helped in building trust among the people on their govenrment because now they are heard and responded more effectively.

Though social media has helped in building a good link between the citizens and govenrment, there are some drawbacks too which come with the public sector's presence on social media. There is a lack of confidentiality with social media being so openly acessible by the government employees and the public over all kinds of issues. There can be rage created between people easily having dissent over issues and thus conflicts can arise and extend.
