I have a question like this: I f the number of signal levels is 8, the bandwidth is 3 MHz, and two samples are taken
per Hertz, what is the bit rate? Is the answer to simply do 2x3x8 to work out the bit rate or am I missing something?

Answer #1

A digital signal has 8 levels. To find the bits are needed per level is

Number of bits per level = log2 8 = 3 bits

bandwidth = 3 MHz = 3 X1000 X1000 = 3000000 Hz

sample = 2 samples/ Hz

Bit Rate = 2 x 3 x 3000000 = 18000000 bits per second (or) 18000 kbps (or) 18 mbps

//If you need any help regarding this solution .............. please leave a comment ......... thanks
