Are there words so offensive that they should be banned from public colleges?" Should any student or faculty member be allowed to say whatever they want in a classroom or any part of the campus? Say what they want about a culture group, an individual life style, religion or sexual orientation?
Yes there are various words and terms which are not acceptable and derogatory in nature. These terms may be somebody sexual identity, their race, their appearance etc. For example :- calling somebody with their complexion like black or dark black or if somebody comes from other backward caste then calling him schedule cast etc. These things are often used in colleges and schools and they are very offensive and could create conflicts among different community or groups. These need to be banned as they are against the social norms.
No, any student or faculty member should not be allowed to say whatever they want in a classroom or any part of the campus because their are some limits and threshold beyond which nobody should be allowed to say to others in classroom because it could hurt others feeling or sentiments. The teacher should be allowed to scold the students in right and sensible way which should not include any personal statement or personal comment. The teacher or students should not be allowed to comment on any ones religion or culture or sexu orientation because it is none of their business and could adversly affect the other person.
