Is an abrasion an open or a short?

A value for estimation of electrical injury is that you have about 300-500 ohms of resistance in your internal fluids (you are basically a bag of salty water). Most of your resistance comes from the dead cells of your epidermis, often providing hundreds of kiloohms of resistance. However, if the epidermis is broken due to injury (such as a cut, abrasion, or burn), the resistance to current that the skin provides falls dramatically. In a circuit model of the skin, would an abrasion be represented by:

  • A short circuit in series with the epidermis
  • An open circuit in series with the epidermis
  • A short circuit in parallel with the epidermis
  • An open circuit in parallel with the epidermis

Explain why in three to five sentences.

Answer #1

Answered the question below.

If you have any doubt ask in the comment section.

Answer :

A short circuit in series with epidermis.

Reason :

We know that most of our resistance comes from dead cells of epidermis. If epidermis is broken , resistance falls to 300-500 ohms.

So, it almost acts like a short circuit. So, abrasion be represented by short circuit in series with epidermis.
