PG Industries’ Manufacturing VP Laine Finnegan was so impressed with your work on last week’s internal audit that she’s asked you to come in to talk to her department about the results. One of your recommendations included incorporating teams into the department to address certain tasks, including designing a new training program. When you go speak to the department, you want to describe to them some of the benefits of working in teams, both to them as individual employees and to the organization as a whole, to help them understand why this is a good option for everyone.

1. The team refers to a group of people working together to achieve common goals. The benefits of the teams to an organization includes the following

  • The team can increase the efficiency of the organization through producing desired results, reaching organizational objectives etc.
  • The team work can provide an organization with innovative results, competitive advantage etc individual with different talents works to achieve a task.

The benefit of the teams to an individual employee has been mentioned below.

  • Team work can help an individual to develop his knowledge, skills and talents through information sharing, coordination etc.
  • It provides the employee with confidence, security etc while performing his role.

2. According to the opinion of the internal auditor, designing a training program can be an effective strategy to enhance the performance of the team. In order to meet the goal of designing a training program Mrs. F can employ the team as mentioned below.

  • A team can be employed to gather the performance records of the employees of each department. Through this the team can identify where the people from various department lacks in terms of skills, knowledge etc. This can provide a back up for designing a training program.
  • Another team can be employed to identify the knowledge and skills required by the individuals to be competitive in the market through conducting an external market research. This team can also focus on identifying the consultants which provide professional training programs so as to outsource it.

3. The team which can be appropriate for achieving the goal of designing a training program can be a project team. The reason behind this choice is mentioned below

  • This type of team can focus on the project of designing the training program alone which enhances the efficiency in achieving the goal.
  • Once the goal is achieved this team can be dispersed and put into other tasks. Since this task is not a continuous one, the team can be dispersed for other functions for the better utilization of the resources.
