In the context of transcription, briefly explain how mRNA is processed, why and where this happens and where the mature mRNA transcript goes next.

ANSWER :

The m-RNA formed during the process of transcription is called pre-mRNA (happens in nucleus of cells) and need to post-transciptional modification to change into a mature m-RNA, because pre-mRNA consists both non-coding nucleotide sequences (introns) and protein coding sequences (exons), from which introns were removed via splicing process & exons segments join together during the post-transciptional modification of m-RNA.

After the formation of mature m-RNA, it would go to the cytoplasm of cell for further process of protein formation via translation steps.
