We have identified the challenges of having an aging healthcare workforce coupled with an aging population.
1.What would be one option that could be offered to help lessen the impact of these challenges?
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of your proposal?
With time, the expenditure on healthcare has increased and due to this reason government has increased taxation limit to cope up with the challenge. As the population is aging gradually, it expects to get well advanced treatment due to technological development. This has also increased due to the growing awareness of diseases through internet or other sources. On the other hand, the gap between young and old generation in an organization has increased and with that it needs healthcare facility to be available at all times. This leads to increase the demand of the healthcare even more.
1) This challenges can be lessen if healthcare facility gets enough incentives to keeps them motivated regarding the well being of the people and thus makes it a priority.
On the other hand, as work affects much on the health of an individual, so it needed to secure that portion first. Older generation would gets much more satisfied while they gets the payment for their work. It helps them to get what they needs for their daily life. It also satisfy their psychological needs as they interacts with people everyday which increases their growth personally as well as professionally. Whereas when older generation does unpaid works such as volunteering, artistic works, care works etc. may meet their psychological needs but may not satisfy their other needs as they are not getting paid. So, it can be said that older people may get encouragement when they can be able to pay their taxes and can get paid for their work. This positive effects may help to mitigate the growing age related challenge of older people as well as other social challenges.
2) One of the advantages is that society can develop itself when elderly people would always remain enthusiastic and motivated and self sufficient, and this lagging part would gradually reduce. Besides, it would become much easier for the healthcare to handle every situation when there would be less patients seeking heath treatment and less patients for the hospital admission.
The disadvantages may be elderly people may not understand what is good or bad for them which may harm them in other ways when they stay independent.
Hope this helps :)
