Describe how quantum mechanics can be utilized to interpret spectroscopic transitions. Is spectroscopy a tool that can be used to determine the nature of chemical bonds? How so?

Quantum mechanics is something,that explains almost everything related to wave and microscopic particle.if we have to calculate the energy of a particular transition level ,we derive that equation by schrodinger wave equation.the quantum numbers e.g rotational or vibrational quantum numbers are are obtained from schrodingers equation .we also know that their value is integral by applying principles of quantum mechanics.

Yes we can know the nature of the bonds by spectroscopic techniques especially in IR spectroscopy where we calculate the frequency by this formula where K is the force constant and can be used easily for knowing the nature of the bonds e.g C=C will have larger K than C__C bond.
