People can lie through omission.

Half said truth is equivalent to a lie. This sentence cannot be emphasized more. It stresses the importance of stating all the facts when required. If not done, it can lead to misunderstanding, confusion and sometimes can lead to serious consequences. It can be done on purpose or involuntarily. One personal example of such an act is -

At my workplace, there was a problem due to placing a file at the wrong place. It was considered as a serious act and our Manager started questioning everybody. When my colleague was questioned, he said, he did not do it. Later, it was known that it was his friend who did it and he knew about it. Manager asked, why he did not tell it to him. He said, he gave answer to what was asked and did not thought necessary to give other details and the Manager himself will find out, who did it.

Both of them got scoldings for their act.

The above example, shows that, people can also lie through omission.
