Halophiles are the microorganisms that survive in very high salt concentration. They are categorised under Archaebacteria. Example is Halobacterium salinarium.

Some microorganisms survive at very high temperature and acidic conditions usually more than 50 degree Celsius. For example Thermus aquaticus is heat loving bacteria. Some microorganisms like methanogens live under marshy conditions. Such bacteria release methane gas as metabolic byproduct.
