Do you believe that health care is starting to turn into more of a retail industry rather a service industry? Why or why not? Do you believe that this is a good thing? Why or why not?
answer-
Yes, i believe that healthcare is starting to see a shift in which it is become more of retail industry rather than a service industry because retail industry is all about providing products to customers in different different locations while cutting cost of business and that is the same thing healthcare industry firms are doing. we can see that there are many small clinics are opening in our local areas where they treat patients coming as well there are outpatient department services in which hospital designed for the treatment of outpatients, people with health problems who visit the hospital for diagnosis or treatment, but do not at this time require a bed or to be admitted for overnight care like such as counseling and weight-loss programs. Diagnosis, such as lab tests and MRI scans.
we also see that many hospitals tie up with insurance companies to sell health insurance to people so that it can help them to earn more profit as well customers can get low cost health benefits.
In 2007, there were 351 retail clinics in operation. Today, that number has skyrocketed to over 3,000. According to McKinsey, there are a few key factors driving the “retailization of healthcare”...
i think this is a good thing because with more clinics opening, focus on low cost and good patient care and use of innovative technology in clinics and hospitals like MRI scans, telehealth where patients get treatment online like medication, diagnosis etc while sitting at home. all this is because these organization in healthcare industry wants to deliver its services to people even if they have to go to patient.
